Import of guns and ammunition for shooting sports

Shooters who are “RENOWNED SHOT” are entitled to import Customs Duty free guns and ammunition for their training and participation in shooting competitions.

A shooter who has participated in a National Shooting Championship and has attained the Minimum Qualifying Score prescribed by the National Rifle Association of India, is declared as “Renowned Shooter”, and is entitled to Import Guns and Ammunition without Customs Duty for their Training and Participation in Shooting Competitions.

Documents required for import of Guns and Ammunition:

  • Application form each page duly signed
  • Renowned Shot Certificate duly signed
  • Performa Invoice of Arm/Ammunition duly signed
  • Copy of Arms license duly attested by Notary
  • Annual Statement for Weapon duly signed
  • Original Receipt of empties deposited with NRAI/State Rifle Association in Respect of previous import.
  • Evaluating Form for Sport Weapons each page duly signed
  • Evaluating Form for Sport Ammunition each page duly signed
  • Affidavit /Undertaking on ₹ 50/- Stamp Paper duly attested by Notary
  • Affidavit /Undertaking on ₹ 50/- Stamp Paper duly attested by Notary for .357&Big Bore.
  • Copy of Bill of Entry of earlier Import.
  • Import processing fee for ₹ 3540/- for Shot Gun/ Small Bore and Big Bore event by cash or demand draft in favour of the National Rifle Association of India, payable at New Delhi.

D.G.C.A. Permit

The D.G.C.A. Permit is issued by The Director General of Civil Aviation, New Delhi for the Carriage of Dangerous Goods by AIR from/to through India.
Documents required for the permit are:

  • Covering letter to D.G.C.A. stating your request.
  • Copy arms license
  • Copy of import license
  • Copy of Invoice
